Mark Callander, Chief Executive New Zealand. Mark has been a key player in New Zealand’s competitive telco market for two decades. While heading up the NZ business he has driven the acquisition of the number four player Orcon and transitioned from a privately owned business to form part of a Trans-Tasman ASX200 listed telecommunications company. Under his leadership, Vocus has also won an important place on the government’s Telecommunications as a Service (TaaS) panel with an ongoing commitment to bringing innovation, network investment and strong competition to all market segments.
As the leader of a dynamic business, Mark believes that achieving cultural alignment when merging business is critical to driving high engagement and successful outcomes across teams. He holds a Bachelor of Management Studies from the University of Waikato and completed Leadership for Senior Executives with Harvard Business School. Mark is a Board Member of the Elevator Group.
Susie heads up Vocus NZ’s Corporate, Government, Enterprise, and business division. Her 145 strong team is based in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch and prides itself on maximising Vocus’ combined strengths in product, sales, marketing and service environments, across all-sized sectors, with specific focus on customising solutions to customer need. Her team has won a place on the Government’s Telecommunications as a Service panel, and has developed a range of products designed to allow organisations to purchase telco services on a per-user basis.
Susie comes to the role following a long telecommunications career, holding many senior leadership positions, including GM Network Solutions at Clear Communications and GM Strategic Development at Kordia, and has a deep understanding of networks, strategy and product development, as well as strong management skills.
Taryn is passionate about technology and providing the best internet services for Kiwis. With almost two decades of industry experience, Taryn heads up Vocus’ three Consumer brands; Orcon, Slingshot and Flip. The brands have carved out reputation as challenger brands in a competitive landscape, with a focus on innovation, great service, and agility in bringing products to market.
Jude has been General Manager of 2talk since September 2007. She helped grow the company from a start-up and helped the transition through its sale to a thriving division of Vocus Group. Jude loves technology and is focused on continuing to grow the 2talk brand both in New Zealand and Australia.
Johnathan’s career in telco and utilities spans 17 years. He joined Vocus Group following the Group’s acquisition of Black + White; a specialised business telco he founded in 2008. Johnathan has worked in the UK, Ireland, USA and NZ for companies such as Cable & Wireless, Hutchison Whampoa, and Telecom NZ. Johnathan heads up Vocus Group’s Regulatory and Commercial function, and is focused on vendor and regulatory relations as well as strategic initiatives.
Stephen started as CTO in October 2018, after almost three years as Head of Architecture at Vocus Group. His 20-year career has seen him undertake a range of network and software roles with CallPlus, Maxnet and other businesses. He holds a Master of Science Degree with First Class Honours from the University of Auckland. He now manages a team of 120, responsible for maintaining and optimising Vocus Group’s NZ network, which includes more than 4,200km of fibre, more than 200 Exchanges, and 125 handovers and POPs nationwide.
Aaron joined Vocus in September 2018 as Chief Financial Officer leading the finance, planning, credit/collections and revenue assurance functions. Aaron has worked across a range of sectors in both the UK and New Zealand, including at Vodafone New Zealand Ltd as Head of Planning & Reporting and at TelstraClear as Group Manager – Planning, Reporting & Analysis. Aaron brings a strong focus on business outcomes by engaging the technical expertise of the organisation with commercial opportunities and discipline.
Mark heads up the HR and corporate services function for Vocus Group in NZ. Originally joining CallPlus in 2004 as HR Director, Mark played a key part in the CallPlus acquisition of Orcon in 2014, and more recently, the merger with Vocus. Mark has seen the business through significant change and works to develop strategies to achieve business growth and enhance productivity.
Emily heads the legal and compliance function of the New Zealand Group. She is responsible for the overall provision of legal support across Vocus’ six different brands in New Zealand. Emily started her career as a private practice solicitor, working at Russell McVeagh in Auckland followed by international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in London. She moved in-house as Corporate Counsel for an ASX/NZX listed company on her return to New Zealand before joining Vocus in 2016.
